Keeping Your Child Motivated!

Keeping Your Child Motivated!

Have you noticed the initial enthusiasm you once saw in your child when they first started fading away at the thought of attending after-school activities over time? After the routine of going starts to kick in, they may become bored with the idea of the activity or experience. Don't worry these feeling are natural. Now you may be asking your self, What can I do to keep my child motivated? The trick is building a good basic foundation. One that will propel your child forward keeping them motivated when they face times of doubt.

Building a connection between careers & academics early in life - You need to get the point across how important their studies are, If your child loves science, look into easy little home science experiments you and your child can do together. This can help to peak their interest and make the point of how learning can be cool and lead to an excellent career if they do decide to pursue that subject. Try to integrate family activities that were connected with their interest in the study. Always emphasize the importance of learning through real-world connections and experiences.

Consistently set goals - Always set positive examples that show hard work will be rewarded. If they believe achievements can lead to a cause for a celebration they will put in more effort. This will likely bring out the best in many students, leading them to work harder. Building goals also lead to a less likely chance for children to drop out of programs at a later stage in life.

Hard work = Rewarded Success - When your child achieves something great or reaches a milestone congratulate them for their hard work. Positive reinforcements help increase one's self-esteem and confidence. Try to always stay positive and stay away from criticism. This can help keep your child in the race and get them one step closer to the finish line.
